The Space Between

In the quiet space between calendars, we reflect on endings and beginnings, guided by nature’s subtle cues. As the Year of the Wood Snake approaches, we invite you to cleanse, renew, and attune to what’s to come.

The Space Between - TU·ET·AL

Time is on my mind. The solar Gregorian calendar celebrated the turn of the year weeks ago, and yet the lunar calendar is still a week away. We are in liminal space. A time between time. Seeing what has ended and what is yet to come.

A beautiful person in my life told me of her father, who at the first week in January could look into the sky and tell how the weather would be in their region for the entirety of the year. Hot summer in August, a mild Winter. He didn’t know the names of the constellations or scientific formations of the clouds, he wasn’t a prophet, he was a farmer with such an acute attunement with nature that he could see how She told us everything we need to know.

I ask myself often, “How can I turn on this power?” When I stand outside and listen, it’s simple. Patience, practice, silence, stillness, re-connection, respect. How much of this is already a prediction for the ways of being this year?

Now that I’m more attuned to the lunar cycles, I’m ready for the Chinese New Year of the Wood Snake on January 29th. You’ll notice a lot of snakes in our packaging. Snakes symbolize wisdom, growth, and renewal. Traditionally you deep clean your house to sweep out all the old stagnant energy that isn’t serving you, welcoming in the new energies.

I invite you to take part in this ritual. Bring an Obsidian bar soap in the shower. Obsidian reflects back darkness only letting light in. The charcoal draws out impurities, while the litsea cubeba clears them away leaving you refreshed for the lunar beginnings. For now, take care of yourself. We all deserve it.

Blessings,

Natalie
